It's really tomorrow but I did these things today

1. In celebration of my 52nd year on earth, five dear friends treated Claire and me to lunch.
2. In celebration of my 52nd year on earth, I scheduled a colonoscopy. I decided to do this because I love my sister, because I lost my friend Lynn to colon cancer last October, because I've already put it off for two years and because the doctor said I would feel so good from the drugs they'll give me.
3. In celebration of my 52nd year on earth, I baked the best chocolate cake from my favorite recipe. I think the coffee and buttermilk are the secret ingredients : ) I use a different frosting recipe, though. As follows:

Cocoa frosting:
In a large bowl, with mixer at low speed, beat 2 2/3 cups confectioners sugar, 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa, 6 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened, 1/3 cup milk, 2 tablespoons light corn syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon salt, until blended. Increase speed to high; beat until frosting is smooth and glossy. Add more milk if necessary until frosting is an easy spreading consistency.

    Sorry about the colonoscopy, though.

  4. Happy belated birthday, Lenora! I love the title of this post. Plunks right in where you need to be. Yup, I'll be delaying that colonoscopy, too. But I know, it't the right thing to do. ;)
