Heat, America, Soft pillow

1. Today I am feeling plain and simply thankful. Mostly for the heat in our home and the heater in my car. What a damp and bitter day it would be without heat.
2. I am thankful I live in America. This is where God plopped me and I cannot complain. My grandparents worked hard to immigrate here, my dad worked and fought hard to raise his family here and am thankful for their sacrifices.
3. Many nights I give a heartfelt thanks for a soft pillow and warm bed to lie down in at the end of the day. There are people who don't even have this most basic of creature comforts and I will always be thankful that God gave me this today.

  1. Hear, hear! (or here, here, whichever the case may be!) We enjoyed having the fireplace and the woodstove fired up all day yesterday. Dried clothes by the heat, cooked blackbean soup by the heat, read history by the heat. Slept gratefully with our cozy pillows in our soft beds. It is good to enjoy the lot we have been given, I thought as I hung out the clothes to dry over every dining room chair!

  2. Very nice. It was terrific to meet you in person yesterday; I was so pleased you introduced yourself. How nice to be recognized from a blog entry! Maybe one day we could get together for lunch.

  3. I think about that often, how lucky we are in America, and in these times, that we have these things. I'm reading the Little House books right now and it sure puts things into perspective when I'm whining that I have to keep the thermostat down to 70 or it's a pain to get wood.
